How to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS on iOS4 – Pwnagetool

Thursday, June 10, 2010.

The new OS for iPhone and iPod touch is just released, i.e. the iOS4, and its still available only for developers right now as the official version is yet to go live. Till then, you can use the firmware in your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and a team has successfully tried to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS with the iOS4 firmware, using the Pwnagetool. You too can try, if you are too eager and don’t want to wait for the official version to release. This firmware is the Golden Manager candidate which can be used by the developers. Still, you are doing it at your own risk, as the baseband preserving is not guaranteed fully.

Here are the steps to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS using iOS4 :

Download the following -
    Pwnage Mac DMG Installer
  • Jailbreak custom bundles for iPhone 3GS 4.0 GM
  • Pwnagetool for jailbreaking
  • redsn0w 0.9.5beta4
And make sure that your iTunes is updated to the latest version i.e. iTunes 9.2 Keep all the above contents at a single place, i.e. in any folder or on the desktop.
Right click on Pwnagetool.app and open “Show Package Contents” and then browse to the following location – Contents > Resources > Firmware Bundles – and at this location, copy the custom jailbreak bundles that you have downloaded.

Now right click on the Redsn0w.app and open “Show Package Contents” and browse to the following location – Contents > MacOS > and from here copy the Cydia.tar.gz to your desktop and extract its contents.
Apple Firmwire BundlesNow the cydia that you just extracted, have to be copied to Pwnagetool. Right click on Pwnagetool and open “Show Package Contents” and then browse to -
Contents > Resources > Custom Packages and here right click on ‘Cydiainstaller.bundle’ and hit “Show Package Contents” and hit the Files area, and here overwrite all the files from the ones you extracted from the redsn0w.app

Now, as the normal procedure is done to create the custom firmware, you will just have to open the Pwnagetool and make the custom firmware.
After the custom .ipsw file is created, you will have to replace and restore the iOS4 through your iTunes 9.2. Put the device in recovery mode and restore.
Note: Though few people reported that it was successful for them, still you are doing this procedure at your own risk. Not always the baseband is protected.

World’s Thinnest Smartphone IPhone 4

Wednesday, June 9, 2010.

Apple the makers of iPhone introduces its most awaited generation next device and world’s thinnest smart phone iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4 is sleeker and more advanced than the first iPhone. Like the iPhone 3GS, it comes in black or white, though it has a more angular look. Its front and back are covered with glass, and it is rimmed with stainless steel that acts as part of the antenna.

iPhone 4 comes with multitasking user interface allows its users to quickly switch between recently used apps. Just double-click the Home button to reveal your recently used apps. Scroll right to see more apps, then tap one to reopen it. No need to wait for the app to reload.

The iPhone 4 equipped with FaceTime, which makes the dream of video calling a reality earlier was not available in on iPhone, and Apple’s stunning new Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, resulting in super crisp text, image, and video.

iPhone 4 is about three-eighths of an inch thick; the 3GS is nearly half an inch. It can shoot high-def video, catching up to some other smart phones. It has a gyroscope in addition to other sensors, to enable more advanced motion-sensing applications, such as games and mapping services.

The display on the smartphone remains 3.5 inches diagonally, but Jobs noted that it can show four times more pixels the individual coloured dots that make up an image as the previous screen. With its large Multi-Touch display and innovative software, iPhone lets you control everything using just your fingers. A panel laminated on the glass senses your touch using electrical fields. It can register multiple touches at once to support advanced gestures such as pinch to zoom, two-finger tap, and more. The panel then transmits the information to the Retina display below it.

One of the most noticeable changes is the iPhone’s new camera on the front that can be used for video conferencing, in addition to a 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video recording. For now, the conferencing function, works only if both parties to the call have an iPhone 4 and on WiFi. And with its advanced backside illumination sensor, it captures beautiful images even in low-light settings. The built-in LED flash does double duty. When you’re taking pictures, it works as a flash. When you’re shooting video it can stay on to light up the scene. And on the front of iPhone 4, the built-in camera is perfect for making FaceTime calls and shooting self-portraits.
In addition Apple’s A4 processor, a 3-axis gyro, and up to 40 percent longer talk time — in a beautiful all-new design of glass and stainless steel that is the thinnest smartphone in the world. iPhone 4 comes with iOS 4, the newest version of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, which includes over 100 new features and 1500 new APIs for developers.

The battery on the new iPhone 4 will allow up to seven hours of talk time – an improvement over five hours on the last model. It can handle up to six hours of Web browsing over cellular networks or 10 hours over WiFi. iPhone 4 will use Micro SIM, instead of a regular SIM card. This means none of your older SIM cards will work, However now a day most of operator providing the Micro SIM.

The iphone 4 will be available in the US at $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model. Prospective customers can pre-order their iPhone 4 beginning  June 15th from the Apple Online Store. Let me clear some myths overe here about the pricing stuff. When you read the above statement that Iphone is available for $199 or $299 just dont take it in literal sense as thats just the downpayment and the actual price of the IPhone. You still tied up with a contract of 18 or 24 months contract, where you will be still obliged to pay certain amount of money till the end of the contract. I will be explaining further about the contract and pricing part in details in my next article.

The iPhone 4 smartphone will be available in US, UK, France, Germany and Japan on 24th June and 18 other countries in July and 24 more in August.
iPhone 4 will roll out in India by the end of September. According to the India’s 2nd largest GSM Mobile service operator Vodafone Essar official statement “Vodafone will launch iPhone 4, the thinnest smartphone in the world with the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, in India in the coming months.” We hope the Bharti Airtel will follow the same. However, the price for the Indian market has not been revealed yet.

Showdown: iPhone 4 vs. HTC Evo 4G

Apple’s new iPhone 4 is the company’s biggest update yet for the handset and it will have you drooling.
The phone is a snazzily slim, glass-backed slab that boasts some impressive specs: dual cameras, a big operating system update and video chat, among other things.
Apple introduced the phone at its developer conference Monday and said it will be available on AT&T’s network starting June 24.
But when the iPhone 4 hits retail shelves it will have to battle a gaggle of Android devices for consumer attention — the most significant of which is the HTC Evo. The Evo has one big advantage that Apple can’t beat. It runs on Sprint’s 4G network, while the iPhone is stuck on AT&T’s 3G service. Sprint 4G, though, is not available in most major cities, including San Francisco and New York.
If you are considering upgrading to the latest version of the iPhone or getting an Android device, take a look at how the iPhone 4 and HTC Evo 4G compare:

5 Strange Ways to Make Money Online

1. Joining a Virtual Jury

Summon your inner Judge Judy, pals: It's time to head to court. Virtual court, that is.
Confused? Here's the scoop: A growing number of sites are now offering cash if you'll help lawyers simulate a trial. And you can even do it in your pajamas.
"Attorneys for years have thought they're kind of psychologists when it comes to picking juries," explains Chris Bagby, founder of eJury.com. "The more demographic background we can get them about each juror, the better off they are."
eJury and other similar sites assemble region-specific pools of people to review cases, ranging from a couple of pages to more than a dozen, and then give their opinions on a handful of questions. This gives lawyers insight into how different members of a real jury might respond to arguments when the case actually goes to court.
"It helps them prepare for trial and hopefully present a better case to the jury," says Bagby, himself an attorney with 18 years of practice under his belt.
eJury varies its pay based on how involved each case is. An average case can earn you around $5 to $10.

2. Being an Online Life Coach

Move over, Tony Robbins: The online life coach has arrived.
Despite its "social media expert"-reminiscent name, the job of online life coach is actually a real paying position -- and one that has some pretty appealing perks, too.
"There's no demand on hours or time zones," says Sara Hecht, director of operations for MyPrivateCoach.com. "You coach clients according to your schedule and your preferences, and you're very free to create your own structure within the program."
The program could be anything from weight loss to business development. There are also slightly more saucy subjects -- things like love, sex, and online dating success.
Getting a gig as an online life coach isn't necessarily easy. Most of the reputable sites require some type of relevant training in your area of expertise; some, including MyPrivateCoach.com, offer their own in-site training programs if you need a helping hand.
Would you expect anything less from a bunch of professional coaches?

3. Helping Kids with Homework

Helping a high schooler with algebra from seven states away may seem somewhat unusual, but in the Web-connected world, it's easy to do -- and it can add up to a lot of extra cash.
Sites like Tutor.com create virtual classrooms where you can sign up to tutor students. You don't have to be a professional teacher to pull it off, either: Anyone with the right smarts can score a spot.
Joshua Riddell started tutoring online when he was a grad student. Now a full-time software engineer, Riddell continues to work in his spare time as a Tutor.com mentor.
"To not have to get dressed and drive somewhere -- to be able to just sit down at a computer at 3 p.m. or 3 a.m. and there's a job -- it's well worth it," he says. "You can make some really good money."
Riddell tutors students on numerous subjects, but you can also opt to specialize: Most online tutoring sites serve students from elementary school-level all the way through high school or even college. The subjects typically include English, math, science, and social studies.

4. Sending Text Messages

Are you an obsessive texter? You might just be able to get paid for it.
You've probably heard of ChaCha, the service that lets you text in any question and get an answer back in minutes. But you might not know you could be the one on the other end, receiving all sorts of questions and tapping back responses.
ChaCha guides, as they're called, sign in to answer questions anytime they like, for as long as they like. They get paid between 10 and 20 cents per question. It may not seem like a lot, but if you're quick enough, it can be a painless way to put extra bills in your back pocket while you're sitting around at home.
"I do it whenever I want, on the spur of the moment," says Donna Tinus, a mother of three who works as a ChaCha guide in her spare time. "I might just work for half an hour while I'm watching a show, or sometimes I'll put a couple solid hours into it here and there."
Tinus estimates she spends around 20 to 30 hours a week doing the ChaCha cha-cha. From that, she earns enough to cover all the groceries for her family of five.
"You couldn't make a living out of it, but it's very good for someone who's a mother or a college student and wants to make some extra money," she says.
So, the big question: What kind of questions does a ChaCha guide really get? Tinus says there's plenty of what you would expect -- sex, sex, and a little more sex -- but there are also always entertaining surprises.
Some of the stranger questions Tinus says she's received:

  • How many hamsters would it take to get to the moon?
  • Does Luke Skywalker wear tighty-whities or boxers?
  • What is the best way to get my cat out of my dryer hose?
  • How many golf balls fit in a car?
Hang on a sec -- is it just me, or do these sound eerily similar to those crazy Google interview questions?
Um, Larry? Sergey? Someone has some explaining to do.

5. Hawking Your Hair

Darling, your locks are worth a million. It may sound strange, but people are actually making decent money by selling the strands right off their pretty little heads.
Sites like TheHairTrader.com specialize in online hair sales. Anyone can post a listing for free, then potential hair-buyers -- a title I'm guessing folks don't proudly display on their business cards -- bid on the soon-to-be-chopped tresses. (Most use the hair for wigs, extensions, and dolls.) An average bundle brings in around $500, while the really impressive manes go for thousands.
The site's current sales record? A healthy $3,600 for 27 inches of "thick, gorgeously long, body-filled" hair. Geez...Vidal himself couldn't write a better description.
It wasn't just length or body that made the $3,600 hair so special, though: According to its former owner, the fibers had never been dyed, permed, or mechanically dried. That's what people in the biz call "virgin hair" -- yes, seriously -- and hair-buyers are willing to pay a pretty penny for it.
Jamie Benzies is a proud hair virgin who's hoping to cash in. His 15-inches of curls are described on the site as "beautiful and thick tawny brown."
While Benzies says he's gotten a fair amount of spammy responses to his ad, he's also attracted some genuine interest -- and he's optimistic he'll end up walking away with his wallet well-filled.
"I'm effectively making money for something that I was otherwise going to throw away," Benzies says.

The internal technology:
  • The Apple iPhone 4 is powered with the A4 chip, and allows usage of MicroSIM.
  • The battery is made bigger and so, the battery life gets longer. 7 hours 3G talk, 6 hours 3G browsing, 10 hours WiFi browsing, 10 hours video, 40 hours of music, and 300 hours of standby.

  • It has 5x digital zoom, and Tap to focus. There is a LED flash with the camera, so finally the need for flash is fulfilled.
  • HD Video Recording. 720p at 30 fps. Tap to focus video recording, and options to edit the HD videos right on the phone itself.
  • Apple launched the iMovie app for iPhone, which allows editing the videos with adding of titles and much more, like showing the edited videos, and bringing in the music from iTunes.

  • Multitasking, folders, Retina Display integration, unified inbox and threading in Mail, lots of enhancements in camera and photos, deeper enterprise support, and tons of new features everywhere.
  • Google, Yahoo and now Bing adds to the list of search engines, but Google will still be the default one.
The Apps:
  • iBooks application which we talked about in the iPad, is now going to come into iPhone. Everything would be the same, highlighting, controls, and PDF reading.
  • A single book once bought, can be synced and added to every device you have with that single purchase. So you don’t need to buy it again on another device.
  • The iBooks has iBookstore which joins the App store and iTunes store.
  • iAds – The new system that helps the application developers to earn money from their apps, while they have launched their apps free or at a low price. The iAds would let you stay in the app itself and open an ad. Apple would be hosting and selling the ads.
  • Nissan, Citi, Unilever, AT&T, Chanel, GE, Liberty Mutual, State Farm, Geico, Sears, JCPenny, Target, Best Buy, DirecTV, TBS network, and Disney are some of the companies that would be advertising. And around $60m of ads would be displayed in the 2nd half of 2010. That’s around 48% of total mobile ad revenue in U.S.
FaceTime:
  • Video calling through Facetime possible, from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 where there is WiFi available.
  • There is no setup required for this calling type, and you have 2 options – Portrait mode and landscape mode.
  • You can use any of the cameras, either front or the rear for the video calling.
